‘De Rode Loper’ Interview

Before the concert in Antwerp, Anastacia was interviewed by Belgian singer Ameerah El Ouiglani, which was broadcast in part on Belgian TV channel ‘één’ today on a show called ‘De Rode Loper’ (the red carpet) today.

Anastacia after years back in the Netherlands

Anastacia was on Dutch soil again for the first time in four years on Sunday night. The American singer, who took a little break the last few years, put on an amazing show in the Heineken Music Hall.

The 40-year-old singer’s music, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003, is full of strength, optimism and girl power. After she was diagnosed with cancer, Anastacia underwent surgery and needed a year to recover. According to the singer with the raw voice, the illness left it’s marks: during an interview in 2005 she said her voice lost power.

You couldn’t notice any of that on Sunday: Anastacia created a pleasant party on the stage in Amsterdam. She talked to the audience as you would to old friends, made jokes and signed a tour book and t-shirt that were handed to her. Then Anastacia flirted with her dancers, did a duet with her backing singers and taught the audience how to dance. Shaking her hips and showing the audience what to do, after which they did the same.

The fact that it wasn’t completely sold out, didn’t bother the American too much. Beamingly she sang big hits such as ‘Paid My Dues’, ‘Left Outside Alone’ and ‘Not That Kind’. She also performed some songs from her latest album ‘Heavy Rotation’. The audience consisted of mainly females, who often recognize themselves in the wise lessons Anastacia preaches. ‘You can tear me apart, you can rip me to pieces. Try breakin’ me down, but I’ll never be beaten’ is one of the mottos she liked to share with her fans. It wasn’t until the end of the show that Anastacia really went all out and you could tell how happy the American was to be performing on Dutch soil.
